lyrics & butterfly time
I’ve been thinking in song lyrics a lot lately. I guess it’s the time of year that words resonate more. It’s so damn cold, we all want someone in our beds… but I digress. So here is some reccomended listening if you want to get into my head… or just listen to some good tunes:
Red Shoes- Elvis Costello
Freakum Dress- Beyonce
I’ll Never Be Your Maggie May- Suzanne Vega
In a Different Light- The Bangles
Hit the Ground Running- Iyeoka
Don’t Make Me Prove It- Veruca Salt
Crimson and Clover- Tommy James and the Shondells
Bell Bottom Blues- Eric Clapton
Maggie May- Rod Stewart
Anna’s Song- Marvin Gaye
Hip Hop- Dead Prez
Trouble Man- Neenah Cherry
Right Hand Man- Joan Osborne
Lisa Listen- Lisa Loeb
Us- Regina Spektor
Part of My Life- India Arie
Love Me Right- Goapele
Clever not Beautiful- Hawksley Workman
Lost Ones- Jay-Z
Rock Me- Liz Phair
Morning Song- Jewel
Close Your Mind- Lupe Fiasco
Poem to a Horse- Shakira
My Coco- Stellastar
We’re Just Friends- Wilco
Ok. I think that’s sufficient. I really should be doing homework right now. So it is the time of year that the sun starts waking up before me. I have been looking forward to it for a while. I am sufficiently prepared to come out of my cocoon this week, even though, as Jonathan so eloquently put it- “It is Alaska outside.” It’s supposed to be like 40 degrees tomorrow, which will be balmy compared to the 12 it is right now, so I’m excited to get back to my gym schedule. Also, I finally finished the stupid accounting conversion that’s been weighing down my work to do list for months, I created a binder of all of the 55 grants I have on my schedule for the year, and I organized my binder for my schoolwork, and actually even wrote an essay. I even cleaned my room and brought all my books in from the car. So now I just need a new bookshelf, some tupperware, and someone to sleep on the other half of my bed… again, I digress.
